12. Benchmarking

The Australasian Reporting Awards are not a competition but an opportunity for organisations to benchmark their reports against world best practice and their peers.

The Australasian Reporting Awards

ARA is a not-for-profit organisation that was established in 1950 to encourage effective communication of financial and business information.
The general awards are not a competition but an opportunity for organisations to benchmark their reports against set ARA criteria.

The Report of the Year and Special Awards are competitive.

The ARA annually:

  • prepares criteria based on world best practice as guidelines for preparing reports
  • conducts an annual seminar on reporting
  • provides constructive feedback sessions; and
  • judges reports and recognises excellence with gold, silver and bronze awards.

There are also awards given in specific categories, such as sustainability, governance, occupational health and safety, knowledge capital, communication and electronic (online) reporting.
